Welcome to the 2022 Winter Swing Summit at beautiful Sunshine Valley BC

Where else are you going to get your accommodations, workshops, and dances all included at one low price!?

The Camp includes your Friday and Saturday accommodations, workshops, dances, pool, and hot tubs.  It does not include food.

Early Bird Rate: $230 until October 15th, 2022Includes Accommodations,  Workshops, and three Dances.

$280 - General Pass after October 15th 2022, Includes Accommodations,  Workshops, and three Dances.

General Non-Cabin Rate: $180 - Includes only  Workshops and three Dances. It does not include accommodations.

Cabin Space is a premium and fills up fast!

Other details include a Jack & Jill contest ($5), prizes to be won, three days of workshops, and three nights of dancing (including Sunday night at Suburban Swing with a live Band). All ages! No partner needed!

You will need to let us know who is pairing with when you register! If not, we will find you bedmates.

All cabins have a fully functioning kitchen with silver wear, dishes, and cooking supplies.

It's like camping!

There is great bedding on all the beds, but some of the pull-out couches have not always had bedding, so we still suggest: *** bring your own sleeping bag or bedding for your own comfort***

Free parking and there is now cell service in the valley.

LA's Shawn Carter and Pheonix's Julie Roman promise to bring you excitement, passion, technicality, and community building.  Shawn Carter & Julie Roman Multi-Time National Shag Champions* *To illustrate how fun this partnership is, Shawn won the first ever Collegiate Shag contest at Camp Hollywood in 1998; 21 years later (in 2019), Julie, as a follow, won the “Shag Mix & Match” at Camp Hollywood!

Shawn Carter is a California Swing Dance Hall Of Famer.  Shawn Carter has been called a walking time machine. A purest in Hollywood Style Dean Collins Swing-outs, Collegiate Shag, and Balboa. This dancer has been personally critiqued by the greats: Hal Takier – a legendary swing and balboa master for over 75 years; George Christopherson; John Mills; Maxie Dorf; Willy Desitoff; and Bart Bartola to name a few. These influential dancers were part of Shawn's core learning years. When Collegiate Shag had a comeback in the 90s, Shawn Carter won the first Camp Hollywood contest for shag in 1998. The following year he took home 3rd place in the Lindy-Hop Strictly at Camp Hollywood and 2nd place in Shag. The list continues ALHC 1999 Lindy 3rd, Jitterbug Ball 2000 Shag 1st, BeBop 2000 Lindy 1st, CH 2000 ( all contests 1st ) lindy, shag, JnJ. ALHC 2000 Lindy 1st, CH 2002 Lindy 4th, Lemonfest 2003 Lindy 3rd, CH 2015 Shag 5th, Original CH Hall of Fame 2007.

Today he spends his time spreading the dance through teaching. His most recent: Collegiate Shag and Hollywood-style Lindy Hop at the LA Shag Festival.

Julie Roman is a Phoenix-based artist. As a classically trained concert pianist/vocalist (with a career as a certified music educator and private vocal coach), she is passionate about pursuing excellence and spreading a love for the arts.

She enjoys collaborating with vintage swing dancers from around the world to compete, teach, choreograph, and perform. While she studies and competes in as many Jazz dances as she can, Julie is madly in love with Collegiate Shag (and flying aerials). She has won Shag contests at events such as The Warsaw Shag Festival, The Barcelona Shag Festival, Camp Hollywood, Shag and Drag, The LA Shag Festival, and Hot Rhythm Holiday.

Julie is also the artistic director for and a founding member of the Phoenix Swing Project (an arts coop dedicated to growing and enriching the swing dance experiences available to people in Phoenix through collaborations and team training). The program is especially focused on creating contest teams,  advocating for junior swing dance opportunities, and mentoring dancers who want to work toward specific goals within the swing dance community.

Julie has performed with or directed several Phoenix-based teams including The Phoenix Bomb Squad (Lindy Hop), External Balidation (Balboa), The Rain and Shine Shufflers (Balboa), The Phoenix Fleahoppers (Shag), The Phoenix Firecrackers (junior Lindy Hop), the Salty Dogs (Solo Jazz), and the Gypsy Jitterbugs (Solo Jazz).

At this point, it's ok to hang back and swim or hot tub.  Leave yourself time to eat and make it to the dance that night at Suburban Swing. 

730 pm - 11 pm Dance Abbotsford Suburban Swing - Formal Dance Night. (Josh Roberts Band)
