Beginner intro to Swing Dancing

Welcome to Swing dancing 101!

We are excited to begin moving towards social norms and activiets.

This will be an intro to swing dancing.  Build your confidence and grow your love for what we have been passionate for 22 years.   Listen to a variety of music, talk about the history of Jazz, learn the basic steps, and move towards being comfortable on the social dance floor.

Come as a couple or single.  We learn as a group and no one is left out.

Each class is followed by a social dance practice for one hour at 6 pm - 7 pm.  This is encouraged but optional.

Here is a basic out line fo the lessons but subject to change as we move together.

March 6 - Day one -Welcome! Lets have some fun!   Intro to the music - Learn the basic 6 count steps (Rock step - Open/closed position - Inside turn - Tuck Turn - and various partner moves).  History of the dance and music and what it is today. 

March 13 - Day two - Building blocks to confidence.  Continuation of the moves learned from last week.  Practice and then on to new moves. (Single and double turns - Inside turn - connection - and various partner moves) 

March 20 - Day three - Diversity and Variations.  Continuation of the moves learned from last week.  Practice and then on to new moves.  (Variations of moves you have learned for diversity on your dancing - having fun on the dance floor - Texas Tommy tuck turn - right to right hand turns - Sweat Heart).

March 27 - Day four -  There is 8 count steps too?  Continuation of the moves learned from last week.  Practice and then on to new moves.  (Moving from 6 - 8 count - Intro to charleston - in and out of charleston and back to the basics - lolly kicks).
